my story so far…

Pilates has been a part of my life since I was fourteen, I have used it to rehabilitate from surgery whilst at The Royal Ballet School, to improve my posture as an actor in London’s West End and to support my body through three pregnancies.

Originally trained by Stott Pilates I went on to complete over 700 hours of training with Alan Herdman (the man who first bought Pilates to the U.K in the 70’s) before teaching alongside him at his Marble Arch studio for four years. I have been running Pilates classes in Sevenoaks since 2006 and I have taught for various clinics in the area as well as teaching classes for Sweaty Betty.

Nutritional Therapy and Health Coaching - A couple of years ago I was struggling with my health, I had vitamin deficiencies that were causing fatigue and muscle pains, I was struggling with anxiety and I wasn’t sleeping well. I decided to train as a Health Coach with the Institute of Integrated Nutrition before taking the decision to deepen my knowledge and train as a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist. Three years of training with multiple exams, evidence based assignments and numerous clinic hours and I am now a BANT Registered Nutritional Therapist and a member of The Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council.

Meditation has been a part of my life for a many of years. I am fascinated by the way breath and mindfulness can help us in our lives, to drop us into our parasympathetic nervous system (our rest and digest mode) and to balance our mood. During lockdown I trained with The British School of Meditation to expand my knowledge of the different types of meditation, the history and the science behind it.

Reiki - Having already received my level one and two attunements I went on to receive the Reiki Master attunement in 2021. It is a privilege to be able to call myself a Reiki Master and Teacher. Reiki helps me to align my energy, to feel centred and to be in harmony with the world around me.

What next…

Ever the student I attend regular continuing education courses in pilates, nutrition and meditation, expanding my knowledge in order to expand what I offer to my clients. I also attend regular Reiki shares with fellow Reiki Masters in order to stay aligned and connected.

Recently I completed an Indian Head Massage Course which my family love benefiting from and I have been exploring Breathwork and its various styles and techniques.

In 2025, twenty years after my first mat pilates training course, ten years after I qualified with Alan Herdman and the year I turn fifty, I will be embarking on a year long Classical Pilates Training course, something I have wanted to do for quite some time now!

Going forwards I would like to learn more about Life Coaching, Functional Medicine, The Oxygen Advantage, and I hope to do a MSc in Personalised Nutrition at some point if I can find the time. I love learning new things and doubt I will ever stop trying to expand my knowledge.
